MSC Motocross Round 1 Highlights
A brisk 12 degrees was the temperature at 7AM at the Orange County Fair Motocross Sunday, March 29th. Where many tracks were still waiting for the snow to stop, riders were lining up for the first gate drop of the season. Practice got underway by 9:30AM and racing commenced at 11AM.
The track was slick and hard early on in the day. Ruts were forming and once the temps started to climb, the track really came around good.
There were some fierce battles going on all day long in many classes. One in particular was the Open A class, where long time MSC riders Carlo Coen and Davey Sterritt ran down the competition. In Moto 1, Sterritt took off and gapped the field to take the moto win. Coen would close in behind Tyler Loud and would capitalized after Loud #55 crashed in a turn from a mechanical failure. Coen #67 would move into second place where he would finish the race.
Moto 2, it was Coen who would take the lead out of the gate. For most of the race, Coen had a gap on the field. That was until Sterritt #289 would close in, in the last 2 laps. Coen would fend Sterritt off taking the moto win and the overall victory for the day.
All in all, the day went well considering the tough weather conditions. We want to thank the staff at OCFMX for providing a good track and of course the riders for showing their support of the MSC in 2015.
